After this year I’m not sure if I need a hug, a large coffee, an entire bottle of wine or two months of travel. (Actually, can I have all of the above?)
While we may not be able to travel this year, we can still take “staycations” and Airbnb’s are the next best place to rest, relax + get a much needed change of scenery! This time last year, the Airbnb I got to stay in was located in Nashville, TN *sorry not sorry for bragging* (and I’m still dreaming of the day I get to go back!) But this year, I celebrated my 24th trip around the sun at the “Simply Suite” we booked in small town Collingwood, ON and let me just say, it was still a 5 star getaway! With a few questions in my DM’s about this cozy stay, I thought I’d share the deets with a blog post!
First off, if you have yet to switch from hotels to Airbnb’s do it! I’ve had nothing but great experiences. Airbnb’s are unique places to stay and can be rented for a night/week or however long you need. They can be anything from a single room in a house to an entire house itself! There are condos, suites, cottages, lofts, glamping, tiny houses, huts by the ocean…you name it Airbnb has it! They provide you all of the amenities of a hotel, if not more!
The “Simply Suite” was exactly as it was listed…a sweet little apartment located 5 minutes from downtown collingwood or 15 minutes from Blue Mountain! Upon arrival, our host sent us all of the details we’d need to know…from travel directions to the wifi password we knew what to expect! The suite was just as cute in person as it was online. (no catfishing here😜)
I loved the self check-in process. There were separate door codes for both the main entrance and our suite entrance. (Which made me feel safe, knowing that there were other residents in the building!) The host even offered to give J, his preferred parking spot. Which gave brownie points from the car guy! Upon arrival there was hand sanitizer at each entry way, lysol wipes and chocolate. (You guessed right, the Lindors didn’t last long!) To ensure guest safety, it was requested that guests bring their own linens & pillows. Which TBH, I preferred!
The decor deserved a 10/10 for the boho vibe that the host was going for. I loved her style and the little hints of Collingwood she added throughout the space. From the kitchenette to the living room, the space was fully functional and we could have easily stayed put for more than one night! The host provided all of the cookware and utensils you’d need to make a breakfast, lunch or dinner. She even provided Keurig coffee pods with milk and oatmeal for breaky! (BIG breakfast girl here! I loved that she thought of that!) In the morning we curled up on the couch (which doubled as an extra bed!) with our coffees by the fire and took full advantage of all of the tv show/movie options from Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney+…Disney won of course!
I would recommend this space to a single couple looking for a cozy space to stay, maximum three guests (as advertised) but definitely not more! After our night’s sleep J and I both rated our stay a 5 star experience! It was quiet, close to downtown and the host did everything she could to ensure it was an enjoyable experience!
If you’re looking to get out of the Airbnb to hit the town, I would recommend trying the Northwinds Brewhouse & Kitchen (Just a short drive away!), touring the Blue Mountain Village or visiting the Scandinave Spa. The only thing we missed out on was experiencing the scenic caves + suspension bridge (rain, rain go away) but I guess that just gives us a reason to come back for another visit! The host provided an entire magazine rack filled with brochures of local Collingwood and surrounding area activities…and some beach gear, lawn chairs + a cooler to go along with them! Collingwood will forever have a place in my heart!
